Chrome local beta

Installation and help

Install the extension

  1. Download the beta ZIP and extract it to a folder.
  2. In Chrome 120 or later, open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and select the folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Complete income and work settings, then activate TimeSats.
  5. Refresh an already open shopping page after installation. Pin the extension for easy access to its popup.

No labels appear

Check that TimeSats is enabled globally and on the current website. Check that automatic labels are enabled in Settings. By default, your income currency must match the price currency. For foreign prices, enable currency conversion in Settings, allow the rate service and save. Chrome internal pages and the Web Store cannot be annotated. Ambiguous or low-confidence prices are intentionally left alone.

A number looks wrong

Check monthly, annual or hourly income, hours per week and gross versus take-home basis. The extension does not estimate taxes. Optional conversion uses dated reference rates, excluding bank fees. Open the popup to calculate a price manually, or select it and choose “Show TimeSats”.

A website layout looks wrong

Open the popup and disable that website. The original merchant price is preserved. Site exceptions can be removed in Settings.

Update the local beta

Replace the files in your extension folder with the new build, then select Reload on its card in chrome://extensions. Refresh shopping pages. Stored income settings are preserved.

Report a detection issue

Send a minimal example to support: expected price, currency, whether it is current or recurring, expected time label and a cropped screenshot. Leave out your income, account information, cart contents and personal identifiers.

Known limitations

No banking, mobile app or browsing history. Optional currency conversion supports ten currencies using daily reference rates. Installments, subscriptions, price ranges and uncertain formats are skipped. Generic detection will miss some websites, especially prices split across multiple nodes. The Chrome Web Store package is awaiting final review. Mobile development builds are not yet released.
